I loved this book. It's not one you can gloss through. In fact, I almost feel like I want to re-read it to see if I can see what I missed the first time around.
It's a beautiful tale of friendship (I loved how that was the focus and not romance for a change) between a pilot and a spy, set in England and France during WWII. Although it is obvious the author worked hard at trying to create strong women characters as is the trend in novels aimed at teenagers and young women just beginning their careers, I most enjoyed the details given about trying to keep information out of the hands of the enemy while simultaneously communicating vital information to their colleagues.
This packs an emotional punch. It is the story of two extraordinary women who fought for their country in different but closely entwined ways, written initially by one of them under torture, before it changes to the other's point of view. So many heroes, and the usually unsung heroines of wartime. Read it!
