What Members Thought

I went into this with low expectations, as I've hit a rash of historical mysteries that just haven't lived up to the fevered billing of their blurbs. But this one works, largely because Bridget and Martha are boldly drawn characters with clear agendas. Thomas also doesn't get too bogged down in the deep details of his era, but shows the reader enough to get a sense of time and place - his choice to limit his scene to besieged York is a smart one.
