I love the way Verghese writes, and I hope he continues. This is his second memoir, and I reveled in the combination of Medicine and Tennis. It's a story of two men finding friendship on the Tennis Court and in hospital rounds.

A memoir of a doctor who befriended a young intern as he tries to make his way in the medical profession. The two share a love of tennis and through the game try to help each other cope with problems in their lives. Sad ending.
My 2nd Verghese book--this one not a novel, but based on the author's real experiences as a doctor in El Paso and the ups & downs of a friendship with an intern. Very engaging. Sad insights into the underworld of addictive drugs.
