I loved this one. Lots of interesting twists and turns. And as usual.... a few tears :)

Another summer book with NY setting, with some puzzles, mysterious box with lost keys, mysterious gentleman who owned an antique shop, and lots of cool places in NY as the setting. Another interesting thing for me from this book is the main character, Jeremy Fink, who is a picky eater, just like my boy Yofel. They have totally the same syndrome and to think that there are boys outside (i know, this is only fiction) who have similar eating difficulties like Yofel, makes me a bit relieved XD

I had nothing to listen to on tape for my long daily commute, so, in desperation, I picked up Jeremy Fink from the children’s audio section of the public library. How do you define the meaning of life?

One month before his 13th birthday, Jeremy Fink receives a mysterious engraved box in the mail. The box was created by his father(who died when Jeremy was 8), and it holds the meaning of life. The only problem is that the keys are missing and they only have one month to find them before Jeremy's birthday.

This book required a little suspension of disbelief as the pieces of the mystery came together a little too easily. However, there were some great themes that prompted some great discussions with my 13-year-old. I'm not so sure how I feel about the inclusion of the "traditional" menstrual slap but happy to see a middle grade/young adult story including a girl getting her period for the first time. Two thumbs up. ...more
