I don't know...I liked the first third or so of the book a lot...then it got hard to stick with...then I really loved the last 3 chapters or so. So, middle of the road for me.

About two-thirds of the way through this one I stopped and thought to myself, "I need to buy a copy of this one, because I really want to read it to my kids some day." It is somewhat dark, but Connolly crafts the tremendous moral center that's made the not-exactly-cheery-themselves classic fairy tales such a lasting part of our culture. It's tough to pay tribute to fairy tales and create a new one in a way that's not fake or false; thankfully, Connolly acquits himself admirably at the task.
