Some of the detailed descriptions of what was bad in the current and past life of the main character was very uncomfortable to read; I also didn't like reading about the activities of the Psychic Club. However, at about the mid-point, when Julia met the children who she took under her wing at the library, I started to change my opinion of this book from "I don't like this" to "it's ok." I expected the ending as it was, but overall felt at that point, with all the weaknesses of the women in this

Predictable, shallow repetitive. The time lines never seemed to be right. Julia would do something for weeks when really only a few days went by. She would get letters every day for weeks but then it would only be a few days for other situations. The description of Lara's home decor was done to death. I finished out of obligation to my book club but don't think I will pick up a Cathy Lamb book in the future.
