Out of a family of four, three of them are brutally murdered. The fourth member of the family is a toddler who escapes his gruesome fate. He wanders from the scene to a graveyard where the spirits and ghosts, show themselves, and all agree the child needs to be raised in the safe haven of a burial ground.
The ghosts, needing to protect this toddler from the murderous "man Jack", names him Nobody Owens (Bod for short).
Bod is only protected in the graveyard ... there is danger outside the walls.

Bod, a human boy, is sent to the graveyard to live in an attempt to elude those who would kill him. All of his companions, including his adopted parents, are dead. Bod is educated and kept safe for many years until, one day, his would-be killers return.
I’m not a scary-book-person and this will never be on my list of favorites as a result. But, if you are such a creature, The Graveyard Book just might be on your top ten list.
