I stayed up until about 1am to finish this book last night, and after I did, I started reading more about Gary Gilmore on the internet. I was born six years after he was executed, so I had no idea what a huge cultural phenomenon this story actually was - I started to get an inkling as I continued to read the book. But to think that Gary Gilmore was mocked by the cast of Saturday Night Live, for example - that connects this story to my own cultural experience. It was jarring to be so deeply lost ...more
