I picked this up in the library by chance while looking for a detective story, and was tempted because the style seemed witty and it was partly set in a newspaper office - as I work in one myself this tends to appeal to me. However, I was disappointed with the book as a whole - I liked the style of writing and there are some fun literary references, but the plot is far-fetched and there is a lot of nasty stuff about child abuse which to me doesn't sit very well with the humour.
