Total enjoyed this one!! This is a physiological thriller. A reporter has to cover a murder case in her home town. She hasn't been back for a number of years, it's a small town where everyone knows everyone else's business, and this is the second murder there.
The characters are a little disturbing, children included. This may be one reason for the mixed reviews. People either loved it or just weren't comfortable with it. Otherwise it's interesting. ...more

this book was really difficult to read. The reason being that it was so disturbing. I was ready to stop after about 100 pages but since I had read Gone Girl, I was curious as to the twist that Flynn would throw in. I was almost half finished so I carried on. I had the MBP figured out and then of course thought I knew how it would end. I just hope that Gillian Flynn has a good therapist.

This is an intense psychological thriller. If you are easily offended by sexual lingo/scenes or foul language then do not read this book. It is definitely not for the faint of heart as it deals with the murder of children but it is an amazing ride that takes the reader through dealing with abuse, self injury and the consequences of it all. The ending is a twisty one although I had my suspicions about the guilty party at times while reading. It was still a shocking ending.
