Dellarobia. The author must have got really tired of typing that unusual name by the end of the book, but you can't really make fun of it, because she admits that the names in this book were chosen from her own family tree. And that apparently includes Ovid.

My goodness, Kingsolver writes the most beautiful sentences. This gorgeous novel tells the story of a farming family in Appalachia barely getting by and explores what can happen when an ecological miracle (tragedy?) occurs where least expected. While the whole world watches, they come to terms with the climate crisis in microcosm and how it affects everyone differently. Lovely on #audio, read by the author.

It is challenging for Barbara Kingsolver to live up to the impact and power of the first novels I read of hers -- the Bean Trees and Animal Dreams, both of which rocked my world when I was in high school and college. Yet, she's still a wonderful story teller and brings in the most important political issues. Sometimes she's a little clunky, and I actually found her strident and preachy in this at times, which I hate to even admit here. But the characters sometimes seemed constructed shallowly in
