Perhaps it is because of my own genetic condition that I find books like this so compelling; it demonstrates how much we still have to learn about the human body and the importance of ongoing medical research. It also reveals how many diagnoses and recoveries are based on luck - being in the right place at the right time.

I loved this book. It had been on my "to read" book for months and it wasn't until I flipped through the pages and found that the author's hometown happened to be 2 towns over from the one I grew up in in New Jersey. I love this book because it delivers an important message - when it comes to medical diagnoses, always get a second opinion if the 1st proves to be pretty grim!
