I got within sixty pages of the end and I’m bagging this. I don’t think it’s the book’s fault. It just isn’t gelling with my mood, most of the time. And there is no audio version at the library. A double whammy, in my world. Would I pick this up again? Most likely. Would I try the rest of the series? In the right mood, most definitely. I like the quirky detective. The best thing about this book is that it had one narrators and the plot was all in one time sequence. While I realize there are advantages to switching narrators and time frames it is of ten difficult to keep the story stranight or figure out who is speaking until you are well into the story. The worst thing about this book is that I really didn't like the narrator and I'm not really sure why. ...more

I struggled with this. Maybe it was a personal lack of concentration or maybe it was the way in which the narrator talks about events and people as if the reader knows them and only slowly reveals them towards the end
