I usually like Scandi mystery, and I liked this one too. But, I'm torn. It was like a boomerang. The interviews Erlender had with all the characters went back and forth, back and forth. It was dizzying at times, at least for me. Now, having finished, I am aligned to his vision, or at least my interpretation of his vision. A bit of a back story with Erlendur's childhood mixed with another long ago assumed death of a woman whose body has never been found. As with most Nordic crime, it is a dark story in more than one way, yet ends with a touch of hope.
