Alex McKnight is a former Detroit cop, now on disability after being shot and having a bullet left near his heart. Alex moved to Paradise, Michigan and he has recently become a private investigator. A friend calls Alex for help when he finds the body of a bookie in a hotel room. Then Alex begins receiving notes which seem to be from the man who shot him, who should still be in jail.
