This is pure speculation, but imagine a book by a well established novelist who has five or six unpublished short stories in the drawer that are arguably thematically similar creates a character that is a writer about to be funded by MI-5, so all five short stories need to be recounted in a sickeningly sweet post modern love story plot line about the MI-5 agent and the writer. The book you imagine would be Sweet Tooth. I need to go brush.

I enjoyed this book especially once I got going in it. It was a bit wordy at times but overall I really enjoyed the plot. It was a nice change in the historical fiction genre to have a bit of a spy story. Interesting to read about the Cold War from a British perspective
