I'm generally a fan of the Lucy Stone mysteries; they're very light, easy reads. This particular novel, though, disappointed me. My biggest complaint is that there was so much extraneous stuff going on - the whole mother-daughter makeover was a nice back-drop for a new mystery setting (NYC), but too much time was spent on it. when Lucy and her daughter Elizabeth go in to New York City for a makeover trip that should be fun and exciting, they do not expect to be involved in a murder investigation. The plot is intriguing in that there is more going on under the surface than is readily apparent, including a strange illness that lays Elizabeth low, and Lucy must investigate both the murder as well as what is happening to her daughter. This is a good mystery with an interesting plot.
