Beautiful. Well worth the hype. The ending seemed a bit rushed--and "tax season" seems like a slightly implausible excuse for a fourteen-year-old to wander around NYC with a strange man without *anyone at all* noticing. 4 stars instead of 5. But good.

I gave this book 4,5 stars actually, but decided not to round it up to 5 stars due to some reasons. But this book is definitely one of the best YA I've ever read. Tackling the issues of AIDS and LGBT in the 80s, dark past of a family, and sibling competition beautifully in a very well written storyline. The setting of NYC is also very believable, taking us back to the cool but sometimes scary era. I almost forgot how ignorant people were in the 80s on the issue of AIDS. And also how inconvenient

Maybe when I have had time to process my feelings more, I'll write a real review. But for now, let me just say: This book is beautiful and exceptionally well-written and perfect even in its imperfections. It's about many things: loss, family, loneliness, illness. But mostly, it's about love, and how there is no such thing as "wrong" love.
