Is this my favorite Mitford novel? Nah. But it’s hardly Christmas to me if I go a year without reading it.

From the 2022 reread: rereading this series w my sister who is reading it for the first time. Timing worked out perfectly to read this one in December. The series does get better with age and I think, with my age. I appreciate gentler fiction as I get older so it just becomes more tailor made for me as the years pass. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful Christmas story, and enjoyable even though I read it in August. There's a spirit of love, surprise and generosity in the novel as the characters carefully prepare for the town's Christmas celebration.

Father Tim and his wife Claudia as usual work diligently to try to please each other. I can't tell you the outcome... can't post a spoiler - sorry! If you're in the mood for the season, this book would be just fine to read as a stand-alone even if you haven't read the rest of th

Listened to the audiobook on my iPhone--borrowed from the library. Not bad, but a shorter look into life in Mitford during a Christmas season, including 2 shorter stories that are tacked on.
