A very slow start, but I really liked the characters as I learned more about each of them.

Richard Russo can do no wrong. The supporting cast is especially well drawn.

I didn't want this book to end! All of the characters were so quirky and interesting, and I feel like Russo perfectly described small-town living. It got slightly depressing at times since one of its main themes is middle-aged inertia, so I wouldn't suggest reading it if that would bother you.
