What Members Thought

I really enjoyed this book. I read it for book club and I was a bit worried as I recently lost my dear Grandmother to dementia. I actually found it to be uplifting and it was helpful to read the experiences of other families and of the Dr and see the similarities with my own. And Oscar is such a blessing to all whose lives he has touched--and now my life is one of those thanks to this lovely little book.

I enjoyed this book for the discussion of Oscar a cat that lives in a nursing home unit for advanced dementia. I also really liked the discussions on Alzheimer's and how families cope with the disease.
...more

Oscar is a cat, but he is not an ordinary cat. No, as Dosa, a doctor at an old folks home where Oscar lives, soon learns, Oscar has an amazing skill: Oscar somehow senses when a person’s time is up and he goes to sit with the dying person during his last days and hours on earth.
