I guess if I have to read a vampire book I'd pick this series. The whole paranormal world drives me crazy, but Harris is at least consistent with her craziness, and she adds a touch of humor which makes it a bit more bearable.

Three books in, I'm on the fence about this series. While I feel like Harris is skilled when it comes to creating characters, there's just this niggling unpolished feeling to the work. My biggest challenge is that I can't quite orient this series in time, largely because it seems like Sookie is living about 10-15 years behind all the other characters in terms of culture and technology. I think this is meant to be a sign of Sookie's poverty in comparison to her friends and her somewhat sheltered
