It was on ok book for the train (I read it on the train ride from Amsterdam to Paris and back).

The mysteries could've been worked on deeper and the ending was something out of soap opera.

It was anachronistic at times. Was there such thing as mineral water that comes in a screw-top bottle in small town Italy back in 1958?

I really quite enjoyed this. I loved all of the classical references and the atmosphere and found that the humourous nature of the characters stopped it becoming too heavy.

I would describe it as entertaining rather than deep and meaningful.
