I'm not really a fan of Spy novels, mostly because I can't keep all the characters straight which makes following the plot difficult. I could at least do that with this tome, but wouldn't go out of my way to find a sequel if there is one.

Very good wartime thriller. A little OTT with regard to the capabilities of the "hero" but no more than you'd get from James Bond or Jason Bourne

As a huge Ken Follett fan I'm surprised that I hadn't read this one yet. I believe it was his first published novel. I would imagine this is another book that would be considered an historical fiction; which Ken really got me into the genre in the first place. Eye of the Needle is the story of a German spy that will do anything to help win WWII for the Germans; he is ruthless and about to expose the largest secret of the war that could decide the fate of the world. A wonderful read.

I always laugh a little bit unintentionally when I read Follett because he cannot write women to save his life, but he definitely does know how to keep a plot moving forward at a very brisk pace. A perfect summer read to refresh your mind from more serious fare.
