I just read this book for the first time since elementary school. It is still a must read. I recalled some of the sensory descriptions - smells, physical discomfort. I didn’t remember the spiritual aspect of it all.
I am so glad I took the time to reread this classic! I can still remember the cover of the edition I had as a child, and I remembered that I absolutely adored it. But I had forgotten enough of the story to make this time around a true delight! Madeleine L'Engle has created a tale to amaze and enchant, and it was simply magical to listen to the audio, which is read by the author herself. A classic book for upper middle grade and young adults, that reminds us that we are the owners of our destinies, and that there is magic in the world.
I liked the book, but the characters seemed a bit thin.
