Am oscilat între 4 și 5 steluțe de mai multe ori, dar am hotărât să îi dau 5.
Are o poveste minunată.

So...Kate Morton usually never disappoints me. I think if you like Nightingale (Kristin Hannah) or the likes, you'd love Kate Morton's books too. The narrative, even though sometimes quite long, was rich in details and juicy drama plots. Back and forth timeline from current days to the days of World War II and in between, made this book never felt boring. I actually can guess the twist just before it revealed itself. Could not get past 100 pages, the thought of plowing through 386 more pages was not appealing. If all the useless rambling about nothing pertinent to the story were cut out it would only be a 200 page book. Poor character development, and those who were a bit fleshed out were boring and unlikable.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. And the Audible reader was perfect for this book.

Book #16 of 2013: This book took me all of four days to read. That's how yummy it was! London during the Blitz, a mystery, love, and interesting characters made for a book I couldn't put down. ...more

I confess to feeling somewhat vindicated by the book's ending as I correctly guessed the final twist, my favorite element is almost a sideshow - the relationship between Gerry and Laurel. It's somewhat uncommon to see a functional and warm brother/sister relationship in fiction (or at least the sort I normally read), and as someone who loves her own brother dearly, it's nice to see a little shined on that sort of thing. ...more

To be added to the extremely short list of "chick lit" I actually enjoy and don't feel the need to get all political and snarky about. ...more
