What Members Thought
A classic Jewish American picaresque Bildungsroman. You can see how influential it must have been for a whole generation of writers (and probably quite scandalous with its frank portrayal of a botched illegal abortion), but I was pretty bored for long stretches of the narrative and felt it it was too long.
