I love a book with great character development, and The Heart of Texas excelled at this. I felt the emotions and depths of the main characters and could easily understand their responses to these emotionally charged situations that they were in. I also enjoyed the connection with the secondary characters, they weren't just page fillers, but truly a connected part of the story that enriched the whole plot.
