This is the second book I’ve read this year about a man who has left his home and taken to the road and both books were European. (Is this a new trend in European novels?)
Road trips are old stories, I suppose, and yet also new. Maybe that’s what we like about them.

Too much violence - so only one star from me.
It is hard to read a book without a likable main character. Like many others, I expected to like a 100-year-old man with the spunk to climb out a window at the old folks home and actually get away with disappearing into society.
Unfortunately I soon discovered I could not like Allan Karlsson. It started when he stole a suitcase from a man who asked him to watch after it for a moment at the bus station. (Stupid request, it turns out.) And the story wen ...more

Völlig überbewertet. Geschichte ganz gut und witzig - aber die Gefühle fehlen mir total!
Very funny! A review on the back said quirky- perfect way to describe this book!
