What Members Thought
Started to read on 15.3.2025. Abandoned on 15.3.2025. I enjoyed a lot the author's Le Crime du comte Neville but within a few pages I realised I wasn't going to enjoy this one, with its rather unthinking proto-post-colonialist views on Vanuatu, 'les Chinois' and who knows, probably others as the book progresses. Also the cover art annoys me; the publishers on all Nothomb books have chosen to include her face as the whimsical, beautiful, feminine, pixie dream girl - now, Nothomb may be not at all
