What Members Thought
A bit of a long, if well-flowing, read for a beginner on the Sun King's reign, this book is an ok survey. And by survey, I do mean it felt like a rushed introduction, with little detail or heart. It seemed to rush through all of Louis' one-night stands and multiyear girlfriends, without the reader getting to know any of them very well. My favourite chapter was the last one where Antonia Fraser evaluated Louis XIV's reign as it felt that there was something meaty to remember.
