This is an intriguing book and story of a survivor/escapee from the North Korean prison camp 14 - which is supposedly the worst of the prison camps. This should be required reading for all high school students.

I know my spouse would never read this, but it is an important book as it captures in just a few hours of reading (or listening) time the modern day horrors of North Korea. We tend to think of North Korea as a nuclear weapons threat primarily and overlook or are ignorant of the internal problems that are inhumane - it's just not taught in the schools and yet this has been going on since the 1950s.
