I first read this book in the 80s along with everyone else (I think) and it's been on my shelf ever since. Now I finally picked it up to re-read after so many years and I think it hasn't really stood the test of time. Back in the 80s it was hailed as a feminist masterpiece and perhaps it was for its time but it most definitely is not now.
