What Members Thought
Interesting tidbits, that, if pulled together in Ackroyd's typical style, would have become a fascinating book. However, as it is written, it is more of a mish-mash of facts that leave me, as a reader, with many more questions than insight. Ackroyd had the "who's", "what's", and "where's" covered. But the absence of the "how's" and "why's" sunk the book. And a few good maps would have helped, too. I felt like I was reading his notes, not the finished manuscript.
