Edie Kiglatuk is half Inuit and half white. She lives on remote Ellesmere Island and is a guide and part time teacher. While guiding two hunters one is shot. To avoid scandal the mayor covers it up as an accidental death. When another murder of someone close to Edie occurs she can not let it slide and she begins her own investigation. It took me a while to get into this onme but the information about living in the Arctic was fascinating
