I very much enjoyed this eventful cult-classic type novel from the 1950's, except for the ending. I guess the idea was, when in Greece, do what the Greeks do, but still I wouldn't have ended it that way. The rest of the novel made me happy by keeping my attention. I love reading Mary Stewart novels. This one provided a bit of mystery and adventure in a wild and beautiful part of Greece, complete with ruins to explore.

On my journey Around the World in 80 books, I chose My Brother Michael for my stop in Greece and it was certainly a worthwhile choice. Stewart clearly loves the country, people, and culture of Greece and her love comes through in every descriptive word.
Add to the wonderful scenery a likable heroine accidently tossed into a murder mystery, throw in a love story, and you have yourself a quaint little book set in the years following WWII.
