I enjoyed reading this memoir. It wasn't perfect but the author did a good job of capturing life on the farm, living off the grid, never exposed to sugar, TV, fast food, or even meat eating. I liked reading about her carefree days on the farm. I could imagine myself as a young girl exploring nature.

This is billed as a sort of Hippie "Glass Castle." I started it last night and put it down very, very reluctantly! Anyone who wants to follow Scott & Helen Neering has my attention! (well, ok not follow them POLITICALLY.....) I'll be posting more about this on my blog--loved it, even if it was a very sad story. ...more
