I'd like to give 3,5 stars - more 4 than 3 (considering the other books I rated with 3..).

I read "The Luxe" because I heard it was a mix of Austen and Gossip Girl. It really was. It was totally the plot from Gossip Girl. My question: Which one was first? Who copied who?

I liked this book. It reminded me a lot of the Gossip Girl TV show, only took place in 1899 and the names are different and problems are slightly different. It was most certainly entertaining. I felt really bad for Elizabeth throughout the entire book though.

1899 New York High Society page turner. The detail of the time period is wonderful. However, Soap Opera came to mind a couple times during my read. I'm okay with that - General Hospital and I go way back. Very fun and looking forward to the sequel.. ...more
