I really did not enjoy reading this book although I am really looking forward to the movie. The descriptions of the food she cooked were somewhere between unappetizing and downright gross. She included so much talk about butter, organ meats, things which are gelled, and killing shellfish. I am sure those were true to the book but not fun to read about. A bit too cute for my taste, and as I listened to the audio version, the music inserted between chapters was especially annoying. Too bad because I actually like Julia Child and remember her cooking show fondly when cooking shows were not a daily occurrence as they are today.
Very inspiring for foodies to get in the kitchen and start cooking!
Funny and charming, but definitely will have the most resonance for women of about Powell's age and of her temperament. Since I'm both, it works for me (particularly in audio format).
