I decided not to finish this one, or the rest of the series. I'll ask my daughter how it ended. I'm looking for great books, not okay ones, and just don't want to waste my time w/this series anymore.

New Moon was even more ridiculous than Twilight. I wouldn't have thought it possible, but it was. On the plus side, the entire novel isn't full of paragraphs dedicated to the marble perfection of Edward. It is however full of multiple episodes of Bella, the clumsy yet fragile angel swooning, fainting and passing out.

I read this in preparation for Thursday night's midnight premiere (yes I'm taking 14 year olds as a sham to cover my own desire to see the movie!). These books are like eating chocolate mint Girl Scout cookies...hard to stop until the whole tube is gone. Fun, effortless escapism.

The pace is much slower than Twilight, but it picks up at the end. I will have to finish the series, but after having sped through Twilight and New Moon, I'll be taking a short breather and then diving back in to finish the last two books.
I must say, it's nice to read two full books in a series and not come across a sex scene. ...more
