I am not a vampire reader. I am not much of a YA reader. Yet I keep reading vampire books, YA books, in search of that book just for me. I liked the character of Bella in this book, a seventeen-year-old who moves to live with her father in a new town. She falls for Edward; it’s not hard to figure out that Edward is a vampire. The attraction between Bella and Edward is the fun of the book, the should-I? shouldn’t I? thoughts of both of them.

I think maybe vampires aren't my thing. I've got no problem with reading trash (fondly remembering my Nora Roberts phase), but this writing is so bad it was hard to get through. That being said, I'm sure I will read the rest of the saga ... must finish what I start.

I read this book faster than I've ever read a book in my life. Seriously. I loved it and I want to read the rest of her books, pronto. ...more

There's been enough written about this book. It is exactly what one would expect from a book about teenage vampires. It's not bad, but it's not fabulous. It was an enjoyable read and I did think she did a great job of giving voice to her characters. I am looking forward to both the movie and the next book in the series.

The writing wasn't great. The author relied way too much on dialogue to make the story move. The story was mildly entertaining. It was a smooth, easy read, but a very ho hum book. It was interesting enough that I will probably read the other books - at least if I decide I want to see the movies.

Fun plot, a good read before halloween... I'm not much into Vampires, but I have to admit these things are addicting. Not quite the level of word-smithing that JK Rowling has. A good read if you're looking for something vapid and entertaining.
