Second read: I'm rereading this book in order to lead a discussion in a couple of months on the book James by Percival Everett. More later.

Reading this as an adult (for a college class), did give me another perspective on how to view the story. I didn't really grasp the fact Jim is the best character in the story the first time I read this or how dumb Tom is. Goes to show you what age does to you as a reader lol.

We all think that we surely have read this marvelous book. Actually, most of us probably just have heard the story so many times that we think this is true. I believe I had never read it or I certainly would have remembered how exquisitely it was written. The writing is like listening to beloved music. Enthralling, enchanting and truly like a loved cashmere bathrobe. Something grand to cuddle up with.
