Maybe 2.5. I found myself really not liking this author. I workin in the criminal justice system and I get being burnt out by this population but I am not sure this doctor ever had any kindness to lose. Her stories were wild and funny even but it was more about her and her difficulty getting along or giving a shit about anyone.
As much as I enjoyed Dr. Holland's stories about psychotic and disturbed patients, I was completely enraptured with her self-reflection and self-disclosure. She didn't shy away from exposing her flaws and stubbornness. I recommend this book to any professional who thinks s/he knows what s/he's doing and feels s/he doesn't need to examine her own sh*t.
