I will no longer joke by saying "I have alzheimers" when I forget something.
I have to admit, I think I would fail some of the memory tests the doctors administer. The "July 5, 2002, a lady with 6 children walks to a house on fire in Boise, Idaho, and 17 firemen approach the scene," then he asks her other easy questions for 10 minutes, after which, he asks her which month, which year, which city, how many children, how many firemen... I would have failed that.

The elements that make up Still Alice are excellent. A Harvard professor at the peak of her career is hit with early onset dementia, a devastating blow to her and her family. The story is told from her perspective, in the third person (I’m sure there is a term for that, but I can’t find it); it’s interesting (and terrifying) to watch her live through the stages of her relationship with this disease, starting with flippant denial and moving through combativeness, frustration, confusion, etc.
