What Members Thought
Butler will go to the quasi-happy ending and after reading so much contemporary fiction, I find the almost happy ending refreshing. Butler does a masterful job of laying the emotional groundwork for a couple in crisis and how the crisis comes about, but by telling it in flashbacks, plays against pre-conceived notions and cultural prejudices to show how our past infringes and enhances our present. A Small Hotel has a big heart.
