Bryson is one of the rare authors I enjoy hearing reading his own work. This wry look at his childhood escapades is vintage Bryson.

I laughed more in this Bryson book than in any other. It's delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed it, although beware - if you're Republican like me you're going to need to bite your tongue a few times - but he's worth the minor irritation. It even made me want to go see Iowa!

Having lived through the 50's as a slightly older child than Bryson, I could relate to all the new modern things that were available during this decade and chuckle at his humorous asides.

Another Bryson book that was quite enjoyable, though it's not one of my favorites. It painted a rather hilarious and interesting picture of growing up in the 1950s in the Midwest, as only Bryson can do.
