This book has been sitting on my shelf for quite a while, and now I am wondering why I didn't grab it immediately and read it right away. It is an excellent mystery - a police procedural set in Chicago. Fortunately I have two more in this series, and am going to dive right into them!

I have just found this author. This police procedural is a little brutal, but I plan on reading more of the series.

I suppose Jack Daniels should be viewed on a par with V.I. Warshawski, Kinsey Millhone, or one of Marcia Muller's series characters. To me she seems a large step up from a cozy, but this was a quick read that required little deep thought on the part of this reader. A good choice for a noisy airport. ...more

Terrific start to this series with police lieutenant Jacqueline Daniels. I don't recommend this as a book to make you drowsy though! It will definitely hook you from page one and you will not want to sleep. This is exactly what you want from a mystery. ...more
