Great biography of Denys Finch-Hatton, quite different from the fictionalized one seen in Out of Africa.

In general I liked this book and during much of the read my score was probably closer to a 4. The two main problems: The author must really like the history of and the writing about World War I. Wheeler would go on for pages and pages talking about war campaigns without ever even mentioning Finch-Hatton. And secondly, the ending was inexcusable. The book ends as suddenly as Finch-Hatton's life. He dies, he's buried and then period, end of story. We are left wondering what happened to his family, ...more
