Obviously, we live in a "Takers" world and that's discouraging because it's clear from this book that we are doomed to destroy our home on Earth. This book makes you think and think hard about our civilization and the myths we tell ourselves to justify our place in the scheme of things. However, the book is short on what to do about it. Perhaps the "Leavers" are more content with their symbiotic relationship with Nature, but I can't see how we can have the best of both worlds without losing one ...more

An excellent book I have spent the Fall reading aloud to my World History class. A different perspective on how to look at the creation story. Excellent. This book will make you think.
