What Members Thought

This is one of those books that I feel relies more on the shock factor of what the author has actually experienced, rather than good writing, to reach out to the reader. While Kawashima's story of escaping (as a Japanese) from Korea during WWII is pretty interesting, beyond her relationship with her elder sister, Ko, I can't quite get a good feel of how she truly related to those around her - the writing is too simplistic for that. Children can learn quite a lot from reading this, but it is not
